Returned here after 8 years and glad to see the tearoom was still open. Took the car up this time and parked in the National Trust car park. Great remote location next to the tarn and the garden had chaffinches and robins hopping about. Had a great mug of tea and a lovely piece of ginger and sultana cake.
We discovered this beautiful restaurant by chance, and it’s quite local! We enjoyed a refreshing ice cream and can’t wait to return to try the delicious cake.
What a little gem tucked away in a charming village, this place is a perfect oasis during a long, hot walk. I enjoyed a pot of tea, a cappuccino, and a fizzy drink for just £8. While there are no seats indoors, the spacious outdoor seating area is well-covered, making it comfortable in both rain and bright sunshine. The staff was very friendly. Just a note: there are no toilets at the parking area.
The tea room was closed when we visited (likely due to the flu), but the surrounding landscape is stunning. There are paths that lead both to the right and left of the rocky bridge. I spotted hikers and cyclists on the trail to the left. There are public restrooms in the parking lot. The drive along this narrow road is definitely worth it. This place feels utterly enchanting, and the entire stretch is simply beautiful—like something out of a movie set. The shades of orange are truly remarkable, and I felt so fortunate to have experienced it.
