La Peniche - Kembs

We went there for an evening meal. The setting is lovely, by the canal, and the food is beautifully presented and very tasty. Unfortunately the service was slow. We eventually gave up on our pudding and coffee (as we waited ½ h to be told that they had forgotten us)... A real shame...

Very good food. Good attention to details. Food is very tasty. Ambience is nice. It is a boat that is converted to restaurant in front of a little marina.

The barge is grounded on dry land alongside a canal. It was a fine evening and we ate outside starting with an original aperitif of violet flavoured sparkling wine. We both chose filet of pork that had been panfried in a good sauce, accompanied fresh, nicely prepared veggies. We finished our meal with very good a nougat glacé. Not cheap but very pleasant.

Hubby and I spent 3 nights in the village of kembs and our host suggested we try La Peniche for dinner. I had the seasonal salad, hubby had the white fish with the beurre blanc sauce and rice. He said that the fish melted in the mouth. His meal also had a little Mushroom quiche which he said was divine. My salad was lovely and fresh with a mustard dressing. Really cute little place on Port du Plaisance. Restaurant is in the shape of a boat! Go check it out.
