This restaurant is a great spot for a quick bite or lunch. Most of the dishes are vegan, although some desserts contain gelatin and the coffee creamer they use has cow's milk, despite being soy-based. The main courses have a delicious modern twist, like serving Cepelinai with salads. I recommend trying traditional dishes like Žemaičių blynai, Koldūnai, or Šaltibarščiai, as well as their freshly made buns and pies. The interior has a charming farmacy theme, and despite the older staff who may not speak English well, there is an English menu available. It's a busy place, so plan to eat quickly and move on. They don't have regular coffee or espresso, only chicory or other warm drinks which may not be to everyone's taste.
A definite must-visit! Though the staff may not speak much English, they do have a menu with translations that are sufficient. The beetroot soup was absolutely delicious!
I had a flying visit to Kaunas, was literally just in town for 4 hours for a show so we ordered some take out from Arbatine for the band and it’s was very good and flavorful. The potato pancakes were delicious!!
As a Lithuanian living abroad, one of my biggest concerns about going vegan was losing my cultural heritage, as food and meat are such integral parts of Lithuanian cuisine. I was thrilled to discover this restaurant that serves the traditional dishes I grew up with, allowing me to enjoy my favorite childhood foods while still following a vegan diet. This place quickly became my favorite spot to eat during my last visit to Lithuania, and I will definitely be returning in the future.
