Bidra med feedbackNormally would never go out for dinner on a holiday but this wasn't a normal year. With that said, I felt like this buffet was WAY overpriced for what they offered $28.99 po). Each time you went up to the buffet you had to search for plates at another station sometimes 2-3 stations away. The food was always very low or out with just OK quality. Our service was very good and the dessert bar was great. I feel like Golden Corrals daily buffet is just as good. Definitely doesn't compare to Vegas Casino buffets.
The definition of meh, I've experienced better. Going in, clearly, you know this is buffet. They offer American style food with salad, grandmas Sunday dinner, barbecue, (American) Italian and (American) Chinese. They also have a dessert station. From a freshness standpoint, most of the food is fairly fresh I didn't see anything that looked specifically dried out or over stale; however, there was plenty that was just unappealing from an ascetic point of view. For example, I didn't try the stuffing since it looked like oatmeal and the mac and cheese was just a blob. Also, noted the big sign for baby back ribs, but saw a ten pound pile of spare ribs. On a more positive note, they don't have people serving portions on protein which can be annoying. The dessert station has a large selection of pies, cakes and cookies that were decent. They did also offer soft serve Schwan's ice cream, but, honestly, you wouldn't be able to differentiate it with any other brand. Our server was very attentive, friendly and engaging. Overall, if you are looking for a buffet this is as good as any other.
I only come to this place with my mom since we can eat for free and that gives it a an extra 1/2 star. The buffet is located in the Ameristar casino. It's open every day with AYCE snow crab legs on Friday for $28.99. We came by for lunch today which runs $13.99 and includes non-alcoholic beverages. The interior of the buffet is large and pretty. There are five stations: Mama Mia (Italian), Chef's Garden (Salads and anitpasti), Farmer's Market (classic comfort food), KC Country BBQ and Chinatown. There's also a large dessert station that you see when you enter with a chocolate fountain. The variety is decent with each station offering at least 3-5 main dishes and 5-10 sides. The casino caters to a diverse crowd and you can sometimes find interesting things at the buffet like frog legs, crawfish and more. I had the pho to start. The broth was under seasoned but they did have all the herb accompaniments which was a nice touch. The ribs came glazed and unglazed. The unglazed ones were tender and had a nice bark and smokey flavor. The creamed spinach was really good. There was a carving station offering grilled kielbasa and tri-tip. There were also fried and grilled chicken options and crawfish that was pretty bland. The salad bar only offered iceberg or romaine lettuce and was a little sad. There's also chilled shrimp and a variety of cold anipasti like a mushroom salad, tortellini salad, etc. The Italian station also offered an array of pastas including a baked salmon with artichokes that looked okay but I didn't try it. The dessert section features a large variety of chocolate cakes, cheesecakes, little pastries, pies and soft serve including a Coke and root beer fountain to make floats. It's probably the most extravagant station excluding special nights like AYCE crab legs or prime rib nights. Service is usually good and our server Robyn was friendly and kept plates cleared and drinks refilled. I think it's a decent value for money with a large variety of offerings if you want a lot of different things that are all okay to good.
I tried the weekday lunch buffet $12.99), which included a drink. The interior was laid out very well, with plenty of comfortable seating in the middle, food bars placed along the outer perimeter, and space between the two. I found a good variety of food, including Chinese, Italian, salads, and desserts, but zeroed in on the American and BBQ cuisines. I especially liked the turkey which was very moist and flavorful), and the BBQ rib which tasted smoky, and had plenty of meat). The tilapia, and seasonal veggies were nicely seasoned, while the cherry pie was also very good. Unfortunately, when I went back for more turkey, it was gone. Also, the brisket looked, and tasted, more like roast beef. The waitress was friendly and attentive, the plate removal and drink service was excellent, and the restaurant was very clean. Overall, I'm thinking 4 stars.
Now renamed The Buffet or Ameristar Buffet comes one of the most delectable and plentiful buffets in Kansas City. It 's beautiful atmosphere when you walk in to the food. Two people for lunch is $35 without tip. Dinner, especially Saturday and Sunday $40 crab night or Thursday $25 steak night, is a bit pricier. I 've attached the prices and specials to this review. As for the food, it 's hit or miss. I do not recommend lunch because it 's neither hot nor fresh because of the slow crowd. Dinner is the best time of the day in terms of quality not price. There 's a beautiful salad bar with array of fruits and vegetables, the pasta at the Italian section is not favorable but the pizza is worth. Meats in general are not the best cuts here overall but the vegetables and breads are. The Chinese food quality is the lowest I 'd say out of all of them, but it 's worth to try the buns and Rangoon 's. Occasionally there is pho there, not the best. The BBQ/grill place is full of meats, namely chicken. Which isn 't my favorite, it 's dry, but the burnt ends are delicious. And finally, my favorite , SWEET DREAMS DESSERTS! I 'd come for the desserts alone, chocolate heaven, Schwans premium ice cream, and decadent beautifully designed and garnished desserts. From cakes, pies, to pudding! Worth a try if you 're out, there 's a little something for everyone. And definitely best of all casino buffets in KC.
