Golden Ox Restaurant - Kansas City

Really neat old-school vibe. Drinks were excellent and the waiter was attentive. A little bummed to learn they were out of oysters after trying to order our appetizer. We ordered a rare steak and salmon. The steak was perfectly cooked but the salmon wasn’t anything exciting. Overall, great experience and look forward to visiting again to try more of the menu.

I made a reservation for my birthday and was seated immediately. My table of 3 ordered the oysters Rockefeller and calamari for appetizers. I had the strip steak for dinner, which was cooked fine. The sides lobster mac and creamed spinach) left a lot to be desired. One main reason for this 3-star review is that the Golden Ox charges for steak sauce. Their house sauce is more akin to a barbecue sauce, it was very sweet and didn’t go with the steak at all. They have no other options either. Overall, the meal wasn’t worth what we paid $320). Was it the worst overpriced steakhouse I’ve been to? No. Would I consider going again? Probably not.

My friends gathered an evening of visiting various breweries around kansas city for my bachelor party and we randomly in the golden ox while we try to get on stockyards brewing co. that was perhaps the most fantastic random restaurant visit that I've ever happened! the entire staff was incredibly friendly and the service we received was top notch. zac took care of us almost 2 hours, made us feel at home and made our experience fantastic. I sincerely appreciated everything he did, what made our evening great. I can't wait to come back!

We went to golden ox for the NYE feeder, who turned out that it was the best choice we've ever met. the food was excellent; the most important we have really appreciated was the employee services; we called mainly dexter melton, our waitress, which made our unforgettable night in the restaurant. we're coming back. again thanks for their service, dexter.

We reserved the cooking table and had an explosion! what a great time and excellent eating and service! we will have to do this again! Many thanks to the great couple that made our dinner a wonderful experience!
