The Loop - Jacksonville

Visiting family in Jax, I heard this place was pretty decent... Hate to say it but was a little disappointed, even if the pizza tasted ok. The take out experience was just not good. We ordered in advance and were told it would be ready in 15 minutes...THAT WAS FAST... Well, we got there in about 15 minutes I went in to pick up and they said after I called they got a bunch more orders for like 20.... Well if it was after I ordered, why would mine come after all of that? I had to go wait another 10 minutes. The buzzer rang, I went in and happily paid and took my little 8 pizzas. When we got back to the house, it turns out, the one pizza that we asked to modify was not modified at all. Instead of the pesto basil base sauce, we requested a super light red sauce as used with the the other pizzas. And to add pepperoni. Welp none of that happened. I'd probably give it 3.5 stars if we didn't have the wait AND the wrong pizza. But don't think I'm going back.

The Loop! This restaurant has been a staple of Jax for many years. When we lived to Jacksonville, one of the first restaurants we tried was The Loop in Neptune Beach. My wife's cousin and her husband met while working at The Loop in St Augustine. So when our friends asked if we wanted to come on a lunch date at the original loop in San Marco, we jumped at the chance! The Loop is in a prime location in the San Marco square as it has been for decades. Anyone that knows San Marco knows how nice it is to visit restaurants there and walk around the square browsing the stores or walking into the park to get a selfie with the San Marco fountain lions. For lunch my wife and I both had the portabella melt. The melt comes with a giant portabella mushroom cap, a delicious garlic aioli, grilled onions jack cheese, on a wheat bun. As far as vegetarian selections go it's a top selection. I also had their Oreo milkshake. Their milkshakes are gigantic and you really get almost two large milkshakes for the price of one as they fill the glass and then give you the mixing container with the excess. Their fries are large and great for dipping into your milkshake for a savory, salty, sweet treat. If you find yourself in the San Marco area do yourself a favor and check out this classic Jax restaurant at its original location!

Always delicious! A great lunch for dining in, to go or delivery! We have them on our regular delivery schedule at work! I love the veggie ciabatta! It's loaded with all the vegetables and covered with cheese! I'm not normally an olive lover, but the way this is prepared is so delicious! The tomato bisque is tasty I love the fresh steamed broccoli

I was really disappointed in my takeout order. The Walnut Gorgonzola salad w/ chicken was missing the meat and the cheese was almost nonexistent. Don 't get me started on the cup of tomato bisque it was more like a trail size. It was tasty just wish I had more.

My family and I love the burgers and pizza here. Today they gave me chips instead of the fries I asked for but made it right by bringing me out a plate of fries. They still haven't put condiments out, they are keeping everything behind the counter which they say are covid protocols but I find it as an inconvenience.
