Bidra med feedbackThe size of the sea urchin is quite rare and satisfying! The lunch was very satisfying! The sea urchin bowl costs 3000 yen and comes with a chawanmushi and miso soup. I think it's better value than eating at places like Shakotan. The head chef and the hostess were also very kind.
I ordered sushi. It cost 2000 yen. The crab miso soup was delicious with a hint of leek flavor. The sushi, including the squid, was cut in half for easy eating. The fish was fresh and had no fishy smell at all. The rice was not too firm and you can tell it was made by skilled hands, not like the conveyor belt sushi. It disappeared quickly, maybe because it was so delicious! The price was reasonable and I left satisfied. They have been open in this location for over 30 years. There was no parking lot, but they said it was fine to park in front of the restaurant. If it's crowded, maybe you can park at the road station nearby?
I decided to take a drive towards Shakotan as I got to English30. I arrived in Iwanai around 10 o'clock, enjoying the wonderful scenery of Shakotan along the way. Since I arrived a little early, I decided to take a day trip bath at Sansan no Yu in Iwanai Onsen. It was a hidden gem with natural hot spring water flowing. Today's sushi choice was Seisushi in Iwanai. I entered as soon as they opened, with a cozy atmosphere and a counter with nine seats. The friendly chef entertained us with local stories. We started with a dry sake Chifuku and enjoyed a variety of local sashimi including thinly sliced Surumeika and rich-tasting Hirame, sweet shrimp, and scallops. By the way, I'm not drinking. Then we had marinated ikura and crab as snacks. The finale was a selection of Uni, Awabi, Hirame, and Kazunoko nigiri, all of which truly showcased the local flavors. It's a bit out of the way, but that's probably why the ingredients are so delicious. It's a place that may be hard to reach without a car, but definitely worth visiting again.
