Bidra med feedbackI challenge you to find a better casual beach side vibe combined with excellent fare in the ENTIRE Mediterranean! Loved the mix of 18-60 year old beach boy servers and the great view and environment on the less crowded Fornillo Beach in Positano. Was so happy when the chef agreed to prepare the regional favorite Spaghetti alla Nerano that several vlogs I had viewed said they featured but wasn 't on their seasonal menu (July). The dish did not disappoint and was the best version we tried during several days all over the Amalfi Coast.
Beach bar in Positano off the beaten path. About a 15 min walking journey up and down stairs across Positano from where the ferries drop you off. Very casual. Walked in without any type of reservation for two. Two seating options: deck seating for a traditional dining experience or beach lounge chair where you can order food/drink out to. Ordered a variety of spritzes which were reasonably priced for a touristy area. About $8. Very refreshing and tasting. Also ordered a few different dishes like prosciutto with cantaloupe, seafood pasta, and more seafood. Everything tasted incredibly fresh and the pasta was perfectly cooked. Was also my first time having prosciutto with cantaloupe which was a fantastic combo. Da Ferdinando makes for a nice lunch that's away from where a majority of the tourists eat/drink so if you're looking for beachy vibes, less crowds, and great food and are willing to walk a bit, I would recommend.
Excellent lunch! Simple, fresh, and great view of Fornillo beach. I felt welcomed and appreciated even though Positano is heavily visited by turista.
A very cute beach club/restaurant on the smaller Fornillo beach adjacent to Spaggio Grande. You can actually take a small complimentary boat from the main beach in Positano to Fornillo Beach, but it's also a nice 10/15min walk from beach to beach. It's definitely a quieter and seemingly more private beach! We got chairs in the first row for 30€ per person. They have a menu where you can order cocktails or bottles (we got aperol spritzs and Prosecco). You can also order food to eat at your chair. We made lunch reservations at 12pm, and we had spaghetti nerano, prawns, and red shrimp carpaccio. Everyone who worked there was lovely and attentive. Make sure to call ahead for a chair/lunch reservation!
Fornillo Beach, where Da Ferdinando is located, is a short 15-minute walk from the Poistano port. 15 minutes and a world away, atmospherically, from the crowds of Americans sitting shoulder to shoulder on Positano's main beach. Fornillo appealed to the side of me that prefers a quieter atmosphere. Lining the shore of Fornillo Beach are a string of beach clubs followed by a small public beach at the end. For those not familiar with beach clubs here's what's on offer: a chaise lounge with beach umbrella; food and drink served at that chaise lounge; use of things like rafts, SUPs, and kayaks; and restrooms and changing rooms. Day one I identified Da Ferdinando as the best of the lot, after looking at the menus, atmosphere, and reviews of all of the other beach clubs and stopping here for a drink. Days 2 and 3 I returned to De Ferdinando's to reserve a chaise lounge and spent the day being spoiled by their staff with food and cocktails far better than that I had almost anyplace else in Poistano. Near the end of my stay I ran into a couple I'd met on Day 1; they had tried another beach club only to conclude that Da Ferdinando's was indeed the best. Prices may change as the summer goes on, but in May a chaise lounge with umbrella, closest to the water, was about $20USD for the day. One or two rows back (that's about as far as the rows go) or later in the day the price drops significantly. Including a delicious lunch and a cocktail or two I never exceeded $50USD for the entire day. Though the walk to Da Ferdinando is short it's not flat so it's worth knowing that Da Ferdinando offers motor boat service, free of charge, to and from the Positano port. It's a nice way to get out on the water without being in the water and to keep from sweating through your clothes in Italy's summer heat. Da Ferdinando was splendid. Were I returning to Positano I've little doubt it's where I'd again spend almost every day.
