Bidra med feedbackThe first time we went my bff and I,it was very tasty and great portions.Today..was another story. There was a dead fly smoothed on our table and wings of another bug.We removed it ourselves. Then it took forever to get our apps and had t o re mind the waiter t hat the hummus falafel platter comes with toasted pita. That took to long, guess they had forgotten. Our salad hit the table with not the blue cheese we had asked for buty house dressing. While all of this is going o n we had to battle nats..lots of them. The entrees hit the table and they brought out beef gyro meat not the chicken my friends daughter had ordered. We call the waiter over he checks his pad and goes to correct the error. The fish was browned so hard that I mistook a dry piece for a fish bone.We had to remind the waiter that our order came with soup, also days ago the soup serving for the same special board was 3x bigger. So instead of being served in courses it was a constant ask for what we ordered go round. We also had to ask multiple times for our water to be refilled. We will not be returning. We only ate because we were flat out starving.
So i've eaten at Opa a few times, and I have yet to try anything that isn't absolutely delicious! The pita bread is by far, the best i've had. The chicken gyro meat is also the best i've ever had. Salads are great (especially the Greek Goddess, yummm . The service is also wonderful. The guys at Opa are friendly, welcoming and accommodating. For example: One day I arrived unexpectedly around lunch time with a party of about 10 people (well, I was under the impression that SOMEONE called ahead of time, but clearly that did not happen! . The Opa staff moved a few tables around and accommodated us all within seconds with no problem whatsoever. In my opinion; best casual Greek restaurant on Long Island, you must check it out! PLEASE order a chicken gyro; you won't regret it!!!
What a nice little gem of a restaurant! Major pluses: very smart, cozy decor where you want to linger, friendly staff, very standard Greek menu with great food. My friend and I wanted to catch up after a few busy weeks. The restaurant was near empty because it was early but the staff was super friendly. They came by routinely to check in, refill water, etc. We did not feel rushed nor did we go hungry! The food was typical Greek: salads, gyros, spanakopita. I had a gyro salad, my friend had the falafel, we had the mezza salata with fresh pita. While we did not drink their wine/cocktail list was decent. The food was very fresh, the portions excellent, and everything was delicious. It is definitely a place I will bring friends back to and/or run over for take out.
The appetizers were amazing! Try the zucchini sticks, saginaki cheese, and stuffed mushrooms!! Good service! Solid entrees. We will be back!
Ordered a gyro dinner platter to go this time. Side greek salad was simple and sufficient; iceburg, a single hunk of tomato, and feta. The dinner consisted of gyro meat over rice and peas with a pita and tzaziki sauce. Not flavorful, and certainly not worth 20$. SOOOO much rice, so little peas, and nothing else. Really really boring.
