Hamer Ethiopia - Islington

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE avoid this place. Firstly when you enter the restaurant you are welcomed by the toilet, secondly the staff are very rude and ignorant. Specially the young women waitress, always showing miserable face when taking orders and no greeting at all. Thirdly the food is very bland and tasteless and even it gets better that they dont accept card payment and they close very early only takeaways.

You're greeted by a view into the toilet when you enter, which perfectly sets the stage. The ambience is non-existent, and the lighting harsh. The single staff member was rude, and trying to get her attention was impossible as she was more interested in her phone than the customers. The food was disappointing to say the least. A 45 minute wait for bland, school-dinner quality food on a chipped plate is unacceptable. When it came time to pay I was told they were not taking cards, so I had to leave my guest to walk about half a mile to find a working cash machine. The only decent thing about the place is the Ethiopian beer. If you're into wasting your time, dealing with ignorant staff, and eating rubbish food, then this is the place for you. I'd only recommend this place to someone I don't like.

AVOIDE THIS PLACE BY ALL MEANS!!! This restaurant is the most horrible restaurant to take kids with. They are too focused on money but not on the service. So tasteless food too. The owner’s husband was the worst person to deal with. He is not polite at all and no manner whatsoever. On Sunday the 4th of September 2022 I saw him treating a lady with her kids so badly. Instead of offering them a sit he the waitress forced them to leave with

PLEASE AVOID! Terrible food and greedy owner. We had the vegetarian dish Beyanynetu which was detestable. The worst I’ve had. We told the waiter and sent it back but we were still charged. Shocking! I will never go back.

Incredible authentic Ethiopian food, really friendly staff, lovely venue, very reasonably priced. Spent our anniversary there and couldn't have had a better time!
