When it's fresh, it's great! But often times it isn't. This time, it was fresh, so the karaage was cooked well and was still hot and the tempura was still crispy. The rice was not as warm anymore. I think that it's still much better if it's fresh at the restaurant.
Tempura is made fresh according to the order. It'll be too hot to eat. It's actually quite good amount of prawns for the price. It's perfectly crispy outside and well cooked inside. The batter was little bland. Overall average experience. Located in the middle section of food corner in SM South Mall near the escalator.
Take out of Ebi Tempura Bento with Iced Tea and California Maki. Yum. There's a stall beside KFC near SM Hypermarket and 711 outside BF Resort.
I've been to other Tokyo Cafe branches, and I enjoyed their food, but my experience in this branch was horrible. I was with my parents when we went here. Food: I ordered the Hamburg Steak, My mom ordered the Oyaku Ju and my dad got the Katsu Ju. My order was okay. It did taste good and I enjoyed it, but I couldn't say the same for my folks. The moment they opened their food, there was a foul smell, something was wrong. They tried it anyway and had two bites when we decided to call the manager. Service: The manager asked what was wrong and so we told him about the smell and taste, it's not fresh. It's been like in and out of the freezer a couple of times. So we asked the manager why it tasted like that, he just told us that they changed their supplier and didn't notice the meats. Talk about quality control. He did apologized though. Place: it's cozy and spacious. Verdict: Tokyo Cafe's food is great, I guess they just have to be very careful in choosing their ingredients.
