The owners were welcoming, gracious, and friendly, and I'm sure my friends will be back again as well. Personally, I will also be returning time and time again. A big thank you to Steve, his lovely wife, and the staff for providing such a delightful and delicious dining experience. The carrot cake was the best I've ever had. We all had a wonderful time, and nothing was too much trouble. I look forward to visiting this restaurant over the next decade or two.
I had a very disappointing experience at this restaurant. I had to wait for half an hour before even being offered a drink, and the drink I wanted wasn't available so I had to settle for a diet coke that took another 30 minutes to arrive. After 50 minutes of waiting, I was told that the dish I ordered was not available. My next three choices were also unavailable, so I ended up ordering a salad and a cheese paratha. When the food finally arrived, it came out in a staggered manner, with one person finishing before others had even received their dishes. My salad was missing several ingredients listed on the menu and my paratha turned out to be a chapati filled with a processed cheese spread. Overall, I was extremely disappointed with my experience at this restaurant.
Unfortunately couldn't give this place more than 1 star. The place is clean with nice decorations and good hospitality. .. However, the food is way below expectations. We ordered fatoush, cheese sambousak and shawerma hummus for starters and we got tabouleh on top of that as a complimentary. Unfortunately, the fatoush was tasteless, no summaq, no lemon or even salt and burned bread ...i don't even think it had proper olive oil as part of the dressing. Tabouleh had no bulgar and came with big chunks on onions! Couldn't even try it coz it didn't even look like tabouleh. The cheese sambousak was very salty ... so if you have high blood pressure ...DON'T even think about it! The shawerma is not shawerma. .. it's just chicken cooked on stove top ... and the hummus ... mmm ... what was that?!!! Nothing like hummus! For our main ... we ordered Chicken Biryani. Didn't taste or look like it ... the rice was very soft and full of water and not fluffy at all. We were very disappointed and the lady noticed our shock and asked us for our feedback. .. She was very understanding and we only paid for the sambousak and the chicken Biryani ... good customer service ... but unfortunately worst arabic food I tried in the UK
The new management is turning Zubarah into one of the best restaurants in Huddersfield. The lamb was excellent; tender with a a very light spice that let you taste the meat and a hint of grilling. The grilled vegetables on the side were an excellent accompaniment. The onions and tomatoes had light grill marks and were firm and fresh to the taste. The standout piece in the grilled vegetables though was the grilled chili pepper. The pepper was grilled just right to have a waxy, blistered skin with blackening and a soft moist interior. When broken and coupled with the lamb the pepper had a slow, pleasing burn. The accompanying salad of tomatoes, herbs, and sliced green peppers had a very light sprinkle of dressing and added just the right touch of earthy and sour flavours to the meal, it's unusual to find a salad with a kick to it. The kanafeh perfect with just enough sweetness and a hint of warm rose. I found the rose flavoring in particular to carry a top note of sweet hay that you don't find in artificial rose flavoring. The karak and Arabic coffee alone were worth the trip in!
