Big baker, really impressive brot (like mum’s) and an extremely brilliant community project. Once they taste the roggenbrot with honey and butter, they never buy a supermarket loaf!

The Stoneham has become a second home for my monthly book club. We haven't given up on the Westbourne completely, but it no longer serves food on a Monday night and sometimes we get a little peckish for something a little more substantial than words! It is part of the same group that run The Connaght and The Dyke so the formula is recognisable. The place has been recently refurbished, and is light an airy while retaining is pubby feel with real open fires. There is plenty of space so it's great for big groups, and in addition to the main restaurant area there is also a function room, garden and patio. They have live music and DJ nights, keep an eye on the website to see what's coming up. The pizza's here are pretty delicious and are made from scratch on the premises. If you don't manage to finish them off (as if! you will be provided with a take out box and can finish it for breakfast the following day highly recommended! So far I have tried the Affettati Misti and the Caprissa both were very tasty, and there is plenty more on the menu to work my way through!
