Bidra med feedbackSo, my first visit was on 1/29/22 and I must say I loved it. Scene was amazing. These new OMGGGG..so amazing and I'm not a big pastry eater, but this will be my new favorite. I had the shrimps and grits for my meal. The grits, perfectly cooked, and the shrimps. The only complaint was eating not hot. It was more on the warm side as if it had been sitting, but we just waited 10 minutes before the food came out so I don't believe it. When I tried 1/29, I had to go back and try this place again, so today went back, 1/31/22, but this time I got the deconstructed chicken potcake...: no fan and I love some potcake. Potatoes were hard and taste was just not there. But I'd stick to the brunch menu.
Unbelievable place to eat a quick bite. It is located right in the heart of the Houston business district with a variety of options. The Dish Society, in my opinion, had some of the best breakfast dishes I tasted. I have the traditional breakfast consisting of only eggs cooked for your choice, bacon, toast with butter and jam and a fruit dish. Service was fast, the place was extremely clean and the atmosphere is very pleasant. You can simply sit and enjoy your meal comfortably here.
I have the steak tacos, and first I was a little skeptical that two tacos could count as a meal. But then the tacos came out and made sense. Not only were the tacos big, but everyone was enrolled with what could probably count as a side salad in a restaurant. These were probably the most vegettal tacos I've ever had, but it was really nice to have the crisp and green flavors. The steak itself was cooked well, still juicy. I would have preferred less cheese on my tacos because the taste was somewhat overwhelming, but hey, to each of their own. The bowl of beans that came on the side was a little confusing because there was no rice to eat it and put it on the tacos would have been overkilled. But for what it is worth, they were still quite delicious when I ate them alone. I would say that the steak tacos were a pretty good dish if you were looking for something a little New-Tex mex-y, and do not want to feel too hard for food.
This was my second time chowing down at Dish Society inside of Finn Hall. I'm always around the lunch crowd so it's packed, but I've always gotten my food fresh and quick. I decided to go with the Brisket stuffed sweet potato. Exactly as it sounds, it's a sweet potato loaded with brisket, as well as some extras like barbecue sauce and coleslaw. All of the flavors worked well together, but you kind of lose them in the medley. I would definitely recommend anyone in the downtown area looking a quick bite to stop by Dish Society at Finn Hall.
It was nervous when I first came in because the place was empty. Not many people in downtown on a Sunday morning. Gonna recommend breakfast tacos with avocado. Some of the best I ever had. Great service too. No bar.. Balance or Apple Pay only!! This is my only handle.
