Julie's Cocina - HORSESHOE BAY

My fiancée and I visited here on 10 september while we were on vacation. I was excited to taste the food, which thought we would have authentic fresh Mexican food, and it didn't get so challenged. we first ordered the chicken nachos and our chips were as delicate as when they were? ve was heated in the microwave, then we ordered the barbacoa tacos and the enchiladas. they are really good, but our main question was with the enchiladas. we have told our server that they do not taste very pleasant, I could burn froster. the server went and got the owner or the chef, I'm not sure, but I explained that they were not good and we didn't want them, they continued to say how they were? re them best sellers and that they were fresh daily and maybe we? re just didn't get used to the taste. she was really controversial. She finally took her off our bill, but her attitude was disgusting.

Staff were very nice. However food is decent at best. Over priced. They charged $2.60 for (2) tortillas that tasted reheated (they were the kind of hard you get when put in microwave 2nd time). Tortillas should come standard with any regular plate. Will NOT go back again.

Julie?s is excellent on occasions in quality and presentation of food and in terms of service. There are as many or more times that it is just okay. There are vast inconsistencies in every aspect of the experience. If I rated them on the basis of my lunch today, they would not have rated well. I ordered a chili relleno stuffed with deshebrada. It is a menu substitution I was told on my last visit that I can get anytime I ask. My waiter was very personable and told me that the kitchen has no problem with substitutes. Today I was told that I can not get the relleno I requested. I explained to my waiter that I had gotten it previously and that it is an example of inconsistency my wife and I have experienced in service, presentation and the quality of the food. The waiter became defensive and said he was the manager on duty, demonstrating the issue I raised. Julie?s menu is excellent as are the sauces, salsa and recipes. There are times that my wife and I fully enjoy the restaurant. But there are also some issues to work out.

My husband and I were on our way home from Canyon of the Eagles resort at Lake Buchanan, and we found this place along the way. Absolutely amazing food! Very clean restaurant, and amazing service!!! We highly recommend stopping here if you are in the area!! We will definitely be back!!
