Rain - Honolulu

Wonderful eating and attentive knowledgeable waiting staff. décor (Disco balls) and lighting was not beneficial for the culinary experience.

Overall, I was impressed by Rain. I heard about it and read the reviews. While I'm not always fed by reviews, their reviews were very accurate. The food is very good and the service was very attentive, but not overwhelming. I liked them having good portions and very reasonable prices. The only surprise was the limited beer card. It seems that they change property at the end of the month as well as change the menu and will be under another name. Because it belongs to the same group that owns the business next door, it will be under their control.

I enjoyed my experience at rain. we found out that they will change the name and format, which was extremely disappointing as I loved it so much. but will try the new scarlet lounge when it opens.

Tried Rain for the first time on a Friday night before you have a show at Kumu Kahua Theater. We had a group of six and divided 3 of the larger plates, two sides and salad. Many foods for the group... each of the common plates can simply feed four people when you share dishes. We shared the shortrib mac cheese, the scallops and the pig bell with rissoto. The pages include Brussels sprouts and asparagus and roasted beet salad. Everything was great! Service was friendly and helpful. We shared the cheesecake and brownie with vanilla ice cream! Great finish to a very pleasant dinner.

We've read excellent reviews for Rain and were downtown for First Friday so we decided to make a reservation. The staff was welcoming and helpful. The noise level rating was due to a very loudly screaming infant/toddler in the restaurant. We found the food to be very creative and of excellent quality. The serving sizes were generous and well-priced. The wines by the glass list could be larger, though. Overall, Rain was an excellent find. We left with the intent of returning to try other things on its very interesting menu.
