Hanaichi - Holland Park

I had an amazing meal at Hanaichi on the upper level yesterday, July 5, 2020. The staff were delightful, and the food was even better! I ordered a tasty rice bowl with a rich sauce and some incredibly crispy chicken karaage, finished off with my favorite peri peri salt. I’ll definitely be returning soon! I absolutely love this place!

I visited this restaurant after three years and found that they are still serving the same tofu curry, though the prices have definitely gone up. It used to cost around $6, but now it's $8.40, with an additional charge for the sauce. I ordered the same small size, half rice, and extra sauce. Previously, there was no charge for the sauce, but like everything else, prices have risen due to inflation. The service was quick; you order at the counter, and then they shout your order through the kitchen window, which has been their method for as long as I can remember. I appreciated the medium-sized bowl because it prevented the sauce from spilling over. The food still tasted the same and was enjoyable.

The teriyaki chicken isn't visible in the photo because I took advantage of a deal at the counter for an extra 100g of meat for $2.50 (down from the usual $4), so I added that, along with some Kay's chicken (karaage chicken), which is sitting on top of the teriyaki chicken. I've always found Hanaichi to be a reliable spot for good value and quick service, and this time was no different. The food was delicious and reasonably priced, with enough portions to feed our family of three, plus leftovers for my lunch the next day. The total bill, using the above deal along with a code for an additional 5% off, came to $17.05. #bargain
