Bidra med feedbackWe then requested unsalted fries as a safe option, but were told they were pre-seasoned and frozen. This was disappointing and not suitable for our allergies. Furthermore, we had to change our seating multiple times as smoking was allowed in the area with picnic tables, as well as in the grass and parking lot. It was truly disheartening to have paid for such a negative dining experience.
I used to visit this restaurant every summer as a child for their lobster rolls, pizza, and pumpkin ice cream. Unfortunately, they no longer serve pizza, but I returned today (10? 15? years later) and was pleasantly surprised to find that the quality of the lobster rolls and ice cream is just as I remembered! These were the best lobster rolls I have had so far this summer, even compared to other places like Lakeshore Deli and Wine'ing Butcher in Meredith. It was actually the most enjoyable meal I have had in the Lakes Region in a while. I am happy that this childhood favorite is just as good as I remembered!
Worst lobster roll in New Hampshire. When I complained to the manager that he was using fake lobster (because we found big chunks of it , he boasted that his lobster salad was 50% Lobster Supreme. I asked him what Lobster Supreme is, so he showed me the bag. I read the ingredients on the bag: Alaskan pollock, whiting, wheat starch, and other things that aren 't lobster. So 50% of their lobster salad is actually cheap filler fish made to sort of look like lobster. And it tastes like what it is cheap filler fish. It does NOT taste like lobster. Don 't waste your money on this cheap lobster substitute. It 's a fraud that they 're advertising it as lobster. On the plus side, their clam chowder is very good. I should add that we 've been coming to the area for 25 years and have eaten at this location dozens of times. In the last few years, I noticed the lobster rolls weren 't good anymore, so last summer I complained about their use of fake lobster. My husband got a lobster roll here last week (I got fish because I don 't like their lobster , and he showed me the big pieces of surimi (a fish paste made from whiting, pollock, etc. . So I complained again. The owner said I was wrong, but then he showed me the bag of Lobster Supreme surimi made from whiting and pollock. He proved that his lobster salad is made with 50% cheap fish substitute. A few nights ago I got a lobster roll at Walter 's Basin and last night at Town Docks in Meredith. Both were 100% lobster and were excellent. They were more expensive, but that alone tells you Squam Lakeside isn 't using real lobster. They 're charging almost 50% less, and there 's only one way they can do that by not using real lobster except for a claw or two they put on top. By the owner 's admission, the rest is langostino and fake lobster.
Love the $17 jumbo lobster. Well worth the price. Maybe not huge tail, knuckle meat but lots of meat and delish. Also love that we can boat and tie up and then walk across the street. If you are approaching the restaurant from Little Squam the doc's are the on the right. NOT the left that is private.
I've come here every year on our trips to New Hampshire and this restaurant has by far the most fantastic ice cream I have ever consumed.
