Happy Vegans - Hoboken

I ordered a vegan hot dog with fries. The price on the menu said $11.50 (which is absolutely outrageous for the quality and quantity that you get; a cold, stale soy dog in a ShopRite bun and about 10 burned fries, but that 's another story . When I go to pay, the guy (it says on the receipt that his name is Tahir tells me it 's $14.00 even. I ask why, if the price says $11.50 on the menu. He informs me that there is tax and a 10% service charge. The tax I expected. But a service charge ?!? For what, exactly? Then he gives me a receipt which shows the total to be $13.41, along with the tax and service charge. So WTF did he tell me $14?? Where did the $14 come from? You 're telling me that it 's their policy to round up by 60 cents and also to charge a BS 10% fee?!? This is straight-up fraud. It 's not about the 60 cents; it 's about the principle. Never coming here again.

I'm not a good cook but even I can make a dish that tasted better than the Coconut Curry Bowl that I ordered. To me, this tiny little bowl tasted like reheated frozen vegetables over plain white rice. The vegetables were soggy and the dish was extremely bland. Where was the coconut? Or the curry? I also got a peach smoothie which had chunks of bitter-tasting fruit and came with a paper straw that instantly became soggy and unusable. Maybe I just ordered the wrong things since the rest of the reviews here seem very positive, but I was an rather unhappy non-vegan by the end of this meal.

Kofteh. It's fresh rolled into crispy cabbage with pomegranate saice. Just Get it. Don't ask questions.

This is the curry and vegetables. It's literally a can of unseasoned corn and peas and string beans over rice. I was really hoping this place was good, I'm unsure how the reviews were so fooling.The 3 little pieces of boiled potato had no flavor, there was no curry flavor whatsoever. No flavor at all. The rice couldn't have been coconut because the rice had no flavor either.This is absolutely insane, I cannot believe this was $10. This is like group home food. I had to report it immediately.I'd try somewhere else, unless you want a platter of flavorless rice with canned veggies on top.EDIT: instead of thanking people for nice reviews, the owner replies only to ones where people didn't like the food unprofessional and weird. Even weirder she deleted it. Numerous people complain about the same thing and instead of taking it into consideration and wanting to make it better for people she was extremely rude to me. The food is terrible, I tried other things. Unfortunately, none was good.

I went here yesterday for the first time and really enjoyed it. It is the second time I've been to a vegan restaurant. I expected them to have higher prices but everything was reasonable. And the food was made fresh and the service was great. I am not vegan, but will recommend it to anyone, vegan or not
