This was a pretty big restaurant and with their format of customers finding a table and then going up to order (with menus printed but kept at the register) they really needed more staff, the poor girls on the floor were run off their feet. Another customer gave us their table when they left and we had to wait about mins until one of the waitresses had time to clear it. There were some specials/fishes of the day but it wasn’t written up what they were (think they could tell you this when you ordered, which isn’t so helpful with a group). The food was pretty standard fish and chips, the crumbed prawns were nice but the batter on the fish was too thick.
The scallop pie has a nice curry flavour but not much scallops. The pastry could be flakier. The chowder was no match for the drunken admirals chowder it was quite cheesy. We were disappointed it didn’t come with bread and only came with small crispy bite sizes. The highlight was the dory fish which was battered and fried to perfection. The tartar sauce added a pop of freshness to the fried food. Total cost was great value for money
