Bidra med feedbackVery nice place and good service. the owner and the chef is the same and is very jovial. we ordered Karahi scatterers, dal makhani, garlic nan and all favorites mango leti. karahi paneer means hut cheese, boiled in deep iron cooktop, dal makhani is a dish of completely black lenses with red kidney beans, butter and cream. dal makhani was the best of all and leti very authentic! can be even more cream in karahi wiper. all nice eating.
Dawat is operated by jimmy who is both owner and chief. it is an inspired cook that serves authentic Indian cuisine for reasonable trips. my wife and I and family and friends have eaten in many times and have to get to know jimmy pretty well. he is a great presence with a bubbling personality and a willingness to adapt and accommodate. he recently got a beer and wine license and kept the room constantly. a new floor and new wine glasses have been added. really good value for authentic home made Indian shrub. can not go wrong with charges of free parking next to valern hotel in albert road moonah.
Eating was okay- wasn't fantastic, but nice, restaurant itself was a bit of dingy dirty weinglas on the table
The best Indian food! I was in this restaurant 3 times and every time eating is amazing! jimmy is a fabulous cook and it offers a huge menu that shocks a block full of delicacies!
Visiting Tasmania and found reviews on urbanspoon. 100% correct. Food was excellent. Keema Naan was the best followed by Lamb Korma and Chicken Ticka. Totally recommend plus staff were great. Will return before we leave.
