Bidra med feedbackThis place had been highly recommended by a coupe of friends on seperate occasions. So we went in with very high expectations, and somehow felt rather let down. Nothing wrong - the food was good and in big serves, staff friendly and obliging, service was adequate. Bit noisy with a couple of groups and one birthday party. Seating was sufficient. Fair choice on the menu with a variety of price points and choices on offer. They had run out of one of our choices, but there was an acceptable alternative. Open cooking area, so a sense of involvement. Warm enough. So I can't say whey I was underwhelmed - maybe it was my pumped up expectations. None of this is to say don't go - it was a good feed.
We ordered using Menulog. We live about ten minutes from the store and assumed our food would still be reasonably hot. We opened the pizza and lamb with pitas to find everything luke warm or cold. The lamb had a strange smell, so we threw it in the bin. The pizza was very mediocre and there are much better options available in and around the city. We really were hoping for something much better, particularly given the pictures on here, which present something much nicer than what we had for dinner.
Service excellent,we had a show at festival theatre and we then walked to train stop and trained into town . Plenty of time for our show and do much easier to eat their than in town .
I really enojyed eating here, sampling a series of their platters as part of a friend's celebration. They ran ut of beer, which was odd, and the wine selection is not great, but I like that Houda's is bringing hearty Lebanese fare to the area. Likely will come back now, just BYO!
If you are feeling like some delicious food with great service visit Houda's on Port road just out of the city, a quick cab ride or you could catch the tram to the entertainment centre and walk. From the moment we arrived the service was friendly as we didn't have a booking. The tasting plate with dips, halloumi, delicious pastries, bread to share is a great way to start the meal. We had the Pollo Avacado .....the sauce is sensational...Shish Tawouk -chicken breast skewers....mixed grill....Lahm Mishwi all equally as good....so tasty and that charcoal flavour....omg....certainly worth going back to try other dishes and the wood oven pizzas looked and smelt amazing. The grandchildren are keen to try the Donutella dessert....we also like the idea that on a saturday night they have belly dancing. This restaurant is family friendly and also has a separate room for functions.
