Wooden Nickel - HIGHWOOD

Back in 1989-90 during the station in Ft. Sheridan, some of us would go to this place every Tuesday for the neighborhood beer night and it was always packed. They played a great mix of old. Rock like REM, and the design was a quarter! They backed the military. I remember the wood nickel as it was yesterday.

The best place in Highwood. Do you want cheap drinks? Ready. You want great music? Ready. Best bar in at least a decade

Eating in town diving bar. Great service and diverse people. Love it!

I've been here before on a live music night and it was very enjoyable. Tonight I got to play pool a bit although there was a small crowd. Staff is always welcoming and friendly.

Good selection of domestic and craft beers. Very spacious venue with outdoor seating. Also has pool, darts, and foos ball. Great option if you're looking for a low-key place. They do have live music some nights.
