Pithari Taverna - Highland Park

I didn't know what to expect, I was amazed. The food was outstanding, the waitress was amazing and a great atmosphere. I'm going back.

Been coming here since they opened and always LOVED this place, actually pains me to write this but I left with such a sour taste in my mouth after the last visit that I felt compelled to write this. Not sure I'll come back, definitely not in summer that's for sure. For starters, it's 90 plus degrees out and the AC was broken. Not sure if they were trying to replicate an authentic Greek experience but it was crazy hot in there. Everyone was complaining. The service was terrible. Probably the rudest waitress I ever experienced. Everything seemed to be an inconvenience. We asked for a pitcher of water as we were all sweating from the lack of AC, only to be told they were low on pitchers. I asked for a diet coke and it never arrived. The complementary basket of pita was put on our table, no olive oil or sea salt as we've been accustomed to getting here. When the cold spreads platter arrived we had to ask the bus boy for more pita as the basket wasn't enough for 6 people and our waitress was MIA as per usual. While the food was great, the experience was terrible. I truly hate writing lackluster reviews but think it's a great opportunity for a business to learn and be better. Attitude is everything and when you can't please your customers, your business model erodes. Step it up and get the AC fixed.

Pros: The food is always delicious with huge portions. Cons: The parking is limited and the man room is too hot in the summer. Despite the cons, everyone I've brought here always raves about the food.

I enjoy Greek food and this Tavern is very good and BYOB an added plus. While I feel that the menus could be more extensive, there is basically something for everyone. I ordered the gyro lamb platter and was disappointed with the amount of lamb that came out on a skewer like shish kebab. Other Greek restaurants I previously reviewed give you copious slices of lamb compared to here! Worth a visit for you to decide!!!
