La Pinata - Hayward

I prefer this place to those in Fremont and Newark... seems more authentic, although all have good food. Complimentary Chips/salsa are a welcome treatment while you cannot go wrong with their skill selections. My wife can't get enough of the Tilapeno soup.

The service at this restaurant has been gradually declining in terms of customer service. On 11/13/22, I placed an order and when I got home, I realized that two items were missing. I called the restaurant and a woman from La Piñata assured me that they would credit my account for the missing items. However, when I checked my account on 12/14, there was no credit. I called again and the person who answered the phone claimed to know nothing about it, saying they needed to "see using the map", indicating a lack of communication among staff. I had to go back to the restaurant and show them the receipt. I am still waiting to see if the credit will appear in my account.

I ordered a steak burrito, a wet steak burrito, and three steak tacos with just meat, cheese, cilantro, and onion. The total came to $54 and some change. I was told the wait would be 6 minutes, but unfortunately, I ended up waiting for half an hour. When I finally got home, just a 5 minute drive away, everything had to be reheated. My child, who had the steak tacos, noticed that two of them only had meat on them. I immediately took a photo and called the restaurant to let them know. They offered to make new tacos, but it was still disappointing. Additionally, the wet burrito was dry with no sauce on it. I won't be going back again.

This has become my favorite place for dinner in Hayward. Food is excellent, prices are reasonable, service is good and there is rarely a line. They're also open late in an area where so many restaurants seem to close at 8!

Consistently great food. Food that makes you smile.
