Bidra med feedbackI'm one of the locals, living few street away in close neighborhood so Hawthorne Garage is very convenient for a quick coffe visit or small grocery pop up. I was there twice this week and every time I felt unwelcomed. Girl behind bakery counter always gives me unfriendly stare . Yesterday I asked if they sell any danishes. I speak with a foreign accent and sort of got used to people being confused sometimes. This staff member was not only confused but very amused by my question. I literally heard her comenting to another person and laughing at me when I was living the store. I'm not really sure if I want to ever go there again.
Just in the neighborhood with my partner, had a quick browse on what’s on the shelves and possible grabbing lunch. Friendly staff and to my experience, great service. I’ll definitely drop by again.
Expensive but very nice coffee. Each comes with a little gingerbread person and the staff are very friendly. However, the market is extremely overpriced. The florist is reasonable, however.
I used to like the Garage but it has just become an expensive rude shambles. Empty stock boxes in the aisles all over the floor. Staff don 't appear to care and barely look you in the eye . Today the Junior sullenly asked me what I wanted, slapped a price sticker on it and dumped it on the counter in front of me. Other staff are too busy chatting to each other to acknowledge your presence. The register supervisor just yelled across the deli for help and then had a full cross store conversation with a staff member about something completely unrelated while patrons waited. In her defence she had a slightly over the top familiarity with shoppers but by this stage the over friendly approach was too late and most of us just wanted to sell our kidneys to pay for the grocery bill. 5 pieces of fruit and a tub of salad from the deli 30.00. The bread selection used to be excellent however I haven 't seen anything recently but sliced packaged bread all hidden behind the checkout girl on a shelf. Cooked chickens used to be excellent. Now shrivelled and tiny. Recent purchase of some simple but expensive beef sausages were inedible. Once cooked they were a quarter of their original size and full of gristle. I hope they get it back to its former glory but I wouldn 't recommend the place and I won 't be back. Something I imagine they won 't notice or care about.
I am always surprised to get a really bad coffee, especially at a place like this which has a unique grocery. That one bad coffee means I will never bother going back. After one sip I walked out and left the offending beverage there.
