Bidra med feedbackI never write terrible cripples! I usually write when it's a good place and don't worry about negativeity. but there's always an exception to my rules. I have booked a room for my man and i for his birthday (august 7-8) and in restaurant. on this Sunday we both thought that we had allergies, but tested positiw for kovid. I have done the right and the responsible by canceling the reservation. when they call this place, their wives are so daring rude, his amazing this hotel has represented them as I called a few times and always got them, always rude! it is not to say that we have canceled out respect for others. I was charged 474.00. what a place does this- they practically said if they do not come they all lose their reservation. she could take care of less when we went with kovid! for me this is a lack of respect for others. we pushed our flight tickets later, so we wouldn't tell the people on the plane. I guess auberge du vieux couvent doesn't care about an extremely contagious virus as long as they fill their rooms! I know we did the right thing. I love les iles de la madeleine, but do not recommend this place they treat their guests terrible! I guess they don't practice safe environment for kovid. who does it! highly recommend it not!
We stayed 3 nights in June/22. You certainly can’t criticize the views, beautiful dining room, and the restored rooms. However for the big price tag with no amenities and no breakfast included…. Was somewhat disappointing. Think the owners should re visit this
Service was poor to the point that for the 1st time in my life … I left no gratuity. Server made numerous errors , my wife’s meal was burnt , my daughters ordered duck salads and got tuna … we had to turn back my wife’s meal . They came back with other plates for my daughters . One of them is allergic to gluten and the server was told about this … yet she was served regular bred . We had to fight to get water , we ordered a decent bottle of wine , yet had to serve ourselves. When desert came around , we were thrown plates on the table and the server came back while we were still eating and she put the bill under my cell phone . Did not offer coffee or tea and she left . We were very nice to her and did not say anything , yet she seemed to not want to be serving us . I did not leave any gratuity. Subsequently, I found Dénis the owner . I did tell him about our experience and frankly it was not worth the over $400 before taxes and gratuity … he was disappointed, yet did not offer anything . I was not looking for anything , just wanted to let him know about our poor experience … and personally , if this was my business … I would have tried to save face .Unfortunately, one bag experience for one customer , lead to many others … I don’t recommend this restaurant to anyone . Too many other on the Islands offer great service and value for a lot less . We love Iles de la Madeleine, yet Vieux Couvent does not desserve it’s reputation and you can get much better food in other small business that have staff and owners who care .
We had a restaurant booking with them and the cancelled our booking no more no less HORRIBLE service and standards. You can’t rely on them. We had made the booking in January and the advised us a few days ago.
I have two reviews for this place...the restaurant and the Inn. Both are great. We stayed here 11 yrs ago for our honeymoon...the return trip did not disappoint. The place has had a major renovation to the bar/restaurant. Much bigger than before with amazing water views from almost every seat. Best view in town. The restaurant offers a simple yet tasty breakfast menu to guests of the Inn only. Dinner, while mid to high priced, was excellent. We tried a series of appetizers to taste as much variety as possible. The ceasar salad with smoked herring was unique and a tasty surprise. Our highlight was the the Thai basil seafood chowder...highly reccomended. The Inn has beautiful sea views from every room but we recommend the Valons d'Acadie or Les Amicalists...amazing views of the ocean. The front desk staff were the same as our last visit and were very attentive to details and to our visit to the Islands.
