Pasteleria Francesa - Havana

Located on Paseo de Martí Avenue, one of Havana's main streets next to the iconic Hotel England, you will find a popular French pastry shop. We stumbled upon it after a meal and, although the colonial-style facade seemed a bit pricey, we decided to check out their prices. The shop has two areas, an outdoor terrace and an interior section filled with various breads and pastries. The terrace is shaded by the atrium of the block, providing relief from the Cuban sun. We were impressed by the variety of cakes, sweets, and pastries they offered. The chocolate brownie caught our eye, although it resembled more of a biscuit to us. It was tasty, perhaps a bit too sweet for our liking, but well-made and affordable at 50 euro cents per portion. The prices were in CUC, the tourist currency, but were reasonable. In addition to pastries, they also serve coffee, but we stuck with the brownie as we had just had a coffee elsewhere. Although we are not pastry experts and only visited one shop during our time in Havana, we would definitely go back for another piece of chocolate brownie. We stumbled upon this place by chance after a meal and were pleasantly surprised by the colonial appearance and decoration. The bakery has two different areas - an outdoor terrace with several tables and an interior area where you can see all the bread and pastries they have to offer. The terrace is shaded by an atrium, making it a perfect spot to escape the intense Cuban sun. We were impressed by the wide variety of cakes, pastries, and sweets they sold. The standout for us was the chocolate brownie, which we found to be more like a cookie, but delicious nonetheless. It was well-made and surprisingly affordable at 50 cents in euros per portion. The prices were in the tourist currency, CUC, but we found them to be reasonable considering the quality and variety of pastries they offered. They also serve coffee, although we opted to just enjoy our biscuit as we had already had a coffee earlier. While we are not experts in pastries, we would not hesitate to return for another piece of their delicious chocolate brownie.
