The Pavilion Hastings Pier

I recently had the fish and chips at this restaurant and I can confidently say it was the worst I have had in Hastings and St. Leonards. The portions were extremely small and the staff did not seem knowledgeable about customer service, as they served without a smile.

The BBQ project is amazing! Your taste buds will be delighted from the beer to the brisket, not to mention the delicious 3 different types of mac n cheese. We visited on a quiet Sunday afternoon and the staff was extremely friendly. The food was also excellent. Don't just walk by, treat your belly to a meal at this place!

I have visited this restaurant before and was impressed by their vegan options, but this time I was disappointed. The menu has been significantly reduced, with no fish dishes for my mother and no cauliflower popcorn. It now feels like a glorified burger joint by the sea. However, they have stopped asking for payment before the meal and now give receipts after payment. They had a vegan cake for dessert, but no vegan ice cream or cream. The only vegan mains were a mushroom burger and jackfruit, which I do not like. The only vegan starter was vegan slaw. I improvised by substituting the haloumi in a haloumi burger with the vegan slaw, but for a main dish, it came on its own without any sides like chips or crisps. Overall, the quality of the food has decreased while the payment process has improved.

So disappointing! All too often the service lets a place down, not here. Service was great, food was awful! £7 for a fish finger roll, it was a cheap, hard roll, and no side salad or anything. My father ordered a £2 brisket parcel, it was huge, tasty, came with a side salad and presented well. Such a difference and when I questioned this, I was told ‘should I tell the chef?’ yes was my answer!! I seriously would stick to drinks and don’t waste your time with the food.

Unfortunately I will not be going here again for food. The waitresses were polite, however the food was tasteless, the fish goujons were more like fish nuggets. It’s a real shame, they can’t get the basics right. I would recommend people just go for a drink here, for the sea views
