Bidra med feedbackI booked a table in Rössli after reading the positive reviews hereunder, and got rewarded with a great dinner: uncomplicated atmosphere, delicious food, friendly service. On Fridays and Saturdays be sure to reserve a table I sat in the wooden “Stammsaal” and it was fully booked. Congrats to the staff, who is truly welcoming and efficient. The menu puts focus on traditional Swiss specialties and as I visited early November game and venison dishes. I started with the “Herbst Duett” (autumn duet) comprising of lamb’s lettuce salad in a crispy parmesan basket as well as pumpkin soup served in a glass. Original and delicious starter. As main course I chose the deer schnitzel served with all the trimmings very tasty and generous portion. Unreasonably I indulged myself with a Coupe Nesselrode as dessert (chestnut paste, vanilla ice cream, meringue). Even the small portion was already XL sized! In high price Switzerland the bill remained pleasantly moderate. A Gasthof in the countryside which I definitely recommend.

It is becoming increasingly difficult to find good country inns in the Emmental. Luckily there is the Rössli in Schafhausen. For lunch we had the pork fillet with noodles and the Läberli with rösti. Very finely cooked. Plus pleasant service in a rustic environment, everything fits.
Recommended, fine food, good selection, nice staff
As always, we ate very well and felt completely at home
