Kente's Cafe - Hampton

What a great ethnic find. Good food home cooking but very balanced and healthy. Read a previous review and totally agree it you only look at the outside surroundings yiu might pass it up, but don't. The food atmosphere it really comfortable a little African a little American and fun for all families and. Be sure to take a look at the games and magazines. My first visit had The Cosby show on the tube and my second visit had the movie Ray. Try it and try the desserts too. Umm good.

This place is awesome. The food is excellent, healthy well proportioned. They have vegetarian alternatives the salmon is the greatest. They only take cash so be prepared.

Kente's is not your quality dining restaurant based solely on appearances, but the food is good. <br/ <br/ I stopped by Kente's with a colleague on my lunch break. She raved about the food there so I reluctantly decided to give it a try. At 1st glance Kente's looks like a hole in the wall. I didn't even know it was a restaurant until we went inside. The dining area had a homey feel and seating was limited b/c of the small space.<br/ <br/ We both ordered the curry chicken over white rice. Delicious! And I am not even a huge fan of curry but this dish was very satisfying (tender) and the price was very reasonable. I will be going back and bringing my boyfriend with me next time.<br/ <br/ The only downside to my visit was when I learned they only accept cash, so be prepared!

Coming Home. I have been a fan of Kente 's for years. I had my first introduction to Vegetarian Cuisine. It was GREAT! I love the cozy, afrocentric atmosphere. As soon as you enter, you are greeted with warm smiles. You feel like you have come home for that long awaited 'home cooked ' meal. The desserts are out of this world. ! There is something there for everyone. Stop by and enjoy !

Finally got to try this place out! It is a house in a residential neighborhood. The service was very friendly and there were quite a few specials. There were vegetarian dishes though she was out of the wheat gluten one. I will have to go back and try that. I ordered the vegetable curry and green beans. It all tasted very fresh and home cooked. Though my stomach was full, I had to get some homemade cake. Delicious! There was a meeting area to the side though Overall the dining area was cozy (small).
