Bidra med feedbackI recently visited this restaurant with my wife and 14-month-old child. The BBQ here is excellent. For long-time fans of the food truck, this restaurant is a fantastic addition. The menu is classic and the staff is friendly. Just remember to bring cash as they do not accept card payments. Some items may be a bit on the pricey side, but adding a side dish could balance it out. We were pleasantly surprised with a free extra serving of Mac and cheese. The restaurant knows how to take care of their guests. The sauces are delicious and there is plenty to enjoy at the tables. Overall, the BBQ is top-notch. Remember to bring cash, enjoy your meal, and leave satisfied. We had burnt ends and a chicken sandwich, both so delicious that we forgot to take pictures!
Southern Smoke has opened a restaurant on Ottawa Street in Hamilton. Bring Cash. We could smell the smoke from far down the street and this smoke had people running to this fire. I got the 1/2 pound of brisket thick cut with bread and coleslaw and some hush puppy's as a side. The brisket was the best I had ever eaten. Perfectly smoked and flavoured while still so tender. They give you a couple pieces of wonder bread which is kind of a let down. I would not recommend the hush puppies. They were small and very dry. They were bland tasting as well, The menu describes a garlic aioli for dipping but there was none. Essentially you pay 4 dollars for 3 really gross timbits. I have had some fantastic hush puppies and I'm sorry to say Southern smoke has missed the mark. My wife ordered the pulled chicken sandwich and some Mac and cheese as a side. While the sammie was out of the ordinary good, the Mac and cheese was in her opinion "meh". Will I go back, yeah the menu deserves my attention. The burgers look like they might be special and that brisket... Wow.
Wow is all I can say. The Southern Smoke Truck participated in the Sew Hungry event in Hamilton in May 2014. We waited in the line and ordered the burnt ends. They were the moist ends of smoked meat covered in a delicious BBQ sauce. It was so AMAZING, I went back and asked the owner if he bottled and sold the sauce. He told me where to get it and the next day we were off and running to pick up some for home. We made something with the sauce the next night, but it didn't hold a candle to the product this food truck produced. My partner in crime has searched out BBQ all across Canada and the USA... up until this time the best bbq he had was in Kansas, but he said the Southern Smoke truck made it even better... the very best he has had (which is saying something, cause I am not exaggerating when I say he has been on a quest for good bbq). We will certainly be following this truck!
I was eager to enjoy the food truck located in a parking lot of a winery in Niagara on the Lake.
I unexpectedly discovered this restaurant in Jackson Square last Friday while I was in Hamilton for work. It truly made my day.
