Bidra med feedbackOne of the true local favorites, has wonderful brisket and ribs but my favorite is the smoked pork steak. The owner knows how to honor the meat! Try their smoked dried mini links, one of the best I've ever had! There's a reason they had made Texas monthly's top 50!
Came here as a child with my mom and the food is still delicious
Excellent Texas Style BBQ! Perfect balance of salt and pepper on the brisket . Pork ribs were tender and perfectly seasoned dry rub gave them the perfect flavor. Kids ate the ribs to the bare bone. Stopped for lunch on way to Port A. Wort the stop.
They 're only open Friday and Saturday till 2 anymore, so keep that in mind! Made the top 50 BBQ joints in TX list, and they DO have great BBQ in an old meat market setting. Been eating there since I was a kid. Everything smoked right out back, great brisket, local sausage, pork steaks, chicken, ribs, etc. Shame they don 't have the smoked mutton anymore, it was the only place I 've ever been able to find it and it was HEAVENLY!!! Owner said he can 't hardly get mutton anymore from his supplier, which is a crying shame! The meats are excellent and the sides are good, so highly recommend! Check their hours though, they 're only open half days 2-3 days a week now... Just make sure you got to the bathroom elsewhere before or afterwards, though, as their facilities are out back and shall we say well worn or colorful ... IOW one step up from a porta potty LOL.
The people are really nice and friendly but the bbq isnt the best. Meat is very dry, so is the bread. The portions are INCREDIBLY small and VERY expensive. 9 dollars for a teaspoon of chopped beef and then they LOAD it down with pickles and onions. If I'm spending all that money I need some MEAT! Only one kind of chips for a side and have the nerve to charge .75 for extra shot glass of sauce to pair with their dry food. All these positive reviews are definitely from close friends and family, sorry but I have to be honest here
