Montana's BBQ & Bar - Halifax

I'm a little late in posting this, but we went to this restaurant for my 3 year old daughter's birthday dinner on August 8th and it was a fantastic experience. I had the honking beef rib and it was absolutely delicious, one of the best ribs I've ever had. The chef who cooked it is clearly very talented! I ordered the same dish at Dartmouth Crossing a few weeks later and it just didn't compare. The food overall was excellent. The waitress was fantastic as well, and they all sang happy birthday to my daughter and gave her a complimentary dessert. Thank you for the great experience and for making my daughter a very happy girl!

The service at this restaurant was excellent - attentive, quick, and extremely friendly. I ordered the chicken tacos, which were delicious and well-cooked, although I was surprised by the addition of cilantro. It might be helpful for the staff to mention this to customers, as some people have issues with cilantro. The lunch was reasonably priced and everyone else at my table also enjoyed their meals.

Last Sunday, I took my friend to Montana's for her birthday. She ordered the chicken tacos and enjoyed them. I ordered a 7 oz steak cooked medium, with some pink but not rare. The waitress, who was very good, recommended medium well. I agreed as long as it wasn't tough or overcooked. Unfortunately, when the steak arrived, it was very well done and I couldn't eat it (see first picture). The waitress kindly ordered me another steak cooked medium. When it arrived, the server waited as I cut into it and it seemed a bit better, at least manageable to cut. However, it was still overcooked, almost as bad as the first one (see second picture). I ended up eating the first half of my meal while waiting for my steak, which was still overcooked. I was very disappointed with my meal and unsure if I will return.

Montanas offers a huge menu! I finally decided on the ribs, taster size. Along with the ribs I had french fries and slaw. It also came with a small square of cornbread.The ribs were fantastic. The meat pretty much fell off the bone. The French fries were okay. Loved the slaw. The cornbread was a little underwhelming.I liked that lots of napkins were provided. Ribs can be so messy!Excellent friendly service.Highly recommend!
