Barbara's Fishtrap - Half Moon Bay

Decent food; overpriced. Had the Petrole Sol Special. Meh. Very crowded on the weekends right when it opens for dinner at 4:45 PM. Automatic 18% gratuity added for decent service. Would not return.

We were looking for an authentic seafood place near half moon bay and ended up finding this place. I was skeptical about the 4.5 star rating of the place, and our experience was no different. We ordered seafood pasta, a calamari dish, fish and chips and several other dishes. The restaurant was heavily crowded even on a Monday evening, and we were given a table which was not adequate for us. Tables are placed next to each other, and the ambience was loud and noisy. The food arrived quickly but totally flavorless. This is by far the worst seafood I have ever tried. Everything was overpriced for the poor service and quality of ingredients. I do not recommend this place at all. Please do your research and find alternatives.

The clam chowder is absolutely AMAZING!!! Especially in a bread bowl. ?. The calamari was also fantastic. Definitely the best I’ve had so! Delicious. An absolute must for any seafood lovers!

The service was pretty terrible. After ten minutes plus of waiting for the bill, the employee specifically encouraged us to tip. I would not recommend going here. Also, they overbread certain fried items. Parking: We had to park the equivalent of three blocks away.
