Bidra med feedbackHere in late september 2017 as a change from the excellent nengren tempel. go through the main gate of the hotel / congress center of ronghu nanlu and go diagonally to the right. the restaurant is then located on the left side of the main congress hall. the buffet differs quite differently from the nengren tempel. the cooked foods are served in small dishes, which sit on the top of the steam/hot water baths, but these are not very effective to keep eating really hot. After it is already served in small dishes, it means that you can not take as little as you want (e.g. to try something you don't know.) moderately diverse foods of good quality. the cookies and cakes seem to contain all eggs. the facility /décor is somewhat more elevated than nengren, but at 48CNY per person seems a fairer one. overall, it doesn't fit us.
I think the previous 1 star rating is extremely harsh. Yes, it's an unfortunate oversight if the ice creams aren't pure vegan, but nobody comes to a Chinese buffet like this for a magnum. I don't think it should detract from what is an excellent buffet one of the best I've been to in China. None of the staff speak English but at reception there's an English information/instruction sheet and once in the buffet it's pretty self explanatory. At 48rmb it's about twice the average Chinese veg buffet, but definitely worth it in my view. Tons of choice, I think you could eat a few times and still not try everything. Also a very wide range of dessert choices (much more than the typical buffet) and a few juices and water. Didn't see any soya milk but could have missed it. I arrived just as dinner started at 5.30 so not sure how crowded it gets, but you have your own booth with a view of the river if by a window.
My Mandarin speaking co-diner asked the manager about the stock of pre-packaged ice cream this place sells (there's a freezer of approx 8 different kinds of such ice cream). The manager said that they don't screen the ice cream to ensure that it is a vegetarian product. In the buffet they use egg and dairy. Updated from previous review on 2017-04-18
I looked very dead when we arrived. Bean Curd, Greens and Fish ordered for my partner and you can say that everything was cooked from frozen and does not taste amazing. The best part was fresh watermelon juice. I don't think I'd go back. No buffet.
They are on the expensive side compared to the other veggie buffets in Guilin, and they are more looking good compared to tasting good side. But it's okay, and I'm sure you're here to find something the others don't have. Vegans could be horrified by displaying boiled (and fried) eggs, I am also not a fan, but they are just that: boiled eggs.
