Bidra med feedbackWe stay at the Catalina every year and have done so for 18 years; this year the restaurant has a new chef and he's absolutely amazing. So far I've had the Beff Tempacio, the Huchicanio field in garlic the filet and the Xmas dinner; without a doubt this is the very best food in Zihua. I've eaten in virtually every restaurant in Zinua and the Linda Vista is better than every single one.
This was the second year I have eaten here. Nothing to rave about. The food is just mediocre. I ordered the special which cost 350 pesos. The first course was a creamed spinach soup which was tasty. But the main course of shrimp in mango sauce with rice and veggies (carrots, broccoli, cauliflower) was unremarkable except for the mango sauce. Dessert was ice cream with fruit. My husband ordered steak and commented that it was rather chewy. We both agreed that the meal was overpriced, especially compared to other restaurants. It seems like Linda Vista is trying to be a bit fancier but does not quite make it. We liked the environment although there are a number of steps to negotiate to reach it. Our waiter was great--friendly and eager to make sure we were pleased. We will probably not return again but might try the bar.
I am so excited to be staying at the Catalina again tomorrow and eating at the Linda Vista. We may eat elsewhere a couple of times while we are in Zihua but we plan to have most of our meals at the restaurant. The food is really good, reasonably priced and the service is great. The view is spectacular The Linda Vista is seriously the most under rated restaurant in Zihua.
We stayed at the Catalina in August 2013 not expecting much seeing in that there often wasn't anyone else in the restaurant - we were so wrong. Everything we tried was absolutely amazing, fresh, and came out very quickly. We ate at many of the highest rated restaurants in town and none of them had anything on the Linda Vista. On top of the amazing food the staff were super helpful and nice. I still dream about some of the food we had there 6 months later. If you are in town do yourself a favour and check it out. The chilaquiles for breakfast cannot be missed!
We have been coming to Zihuatanejo for 30 years and have stayed at the Catalina on La Ropa beach for the last half dozen years or so. Since we have a fantastic breakfast every morning as part of our room charge, we eat out for dinner elsewhere for variety. However, this last November, we ate dinner many times during our stay right where we were staying...the Catalina's Linda Vista! The wait staff is first class, personable and very professional, the menu variety is great, the food quality and quantity are perfect. The view of the Bay, sunsets and surrounding hillsides enhances this experience. We ditched our need to experiment for dinner all over Zihuatanejo. It was time to get out the word to those that don't stay at the Catalina.about this wonderful dining experience.
