Woks-Taste Chinese Restaurant - Guelph

I was at Wok's Taste earlier tonight and was rather appalled at what happened with my order. As I was driving onto the street where the restaurant was located, I saw a young lady crossing the street in front of me, carrying a bag. Parked...and went into the restaurant, gave the host my name, was asked for a phone number and I gave it to her. She said she could not see the number on the system, and went to the back to check on orders. I went back to my car to get my phone so I could verify with my son (who placed the call for the order) if his number was used for the order. I again gave the number to the host and she still said the number doesn't show on their system. She called another person from the back and they both checked the system, asked me if I was sure this was the correct number. They then handed me a receipt to pay, and I said it was not my order. At this point, about five minutes after I entered, the same young woman I had seen crossing the street earlier came in with a bag and put it back on the table and told the host she got the wrong bag. It was the bag that was meant for me and had the correct phone number on it! The lady got them to refund back the difference (about less for her than for my order) and gave me an apologetic look. After she left, the host then turned to me and said here's my order. I asked her if she thought it was a good idea that someone took the wrong order outside for several minutes then brought it back in, while holding the receipt on the top part of the brown paper bag especially in this health crisis and with a lockdown still in place. I expressed my concerns about where the bag had been and with potential contamination, and the host said that the lady didn't rip the bag open and offered to replace the plastic bag (but not the brown paper bag the lady had been holding). I was quite put off by this whole adventure and the lack of care for health concerns. I get that a mistake was made (how does someone take a bag that doesn't have their phone number on it and is more than what they ordered, I'll never understand) and people are human, but allowing a customer potentially contaminate food outside and then giving it to a different customer? And not be able to find the phone number in your system when it was printed there on the receipt attached to the food? The whole situation earns a rating of I'm sorry to say.

Service was polite friendly and helpful. Food was awesome. Ordered shrimp chow mien, chicken wings, spring roll, Cantonese chow mien noodles and sweet sour spareribs. Food was hot and ready for pick up upon arrival. Healthy portions of everything. Absolutely delicious. Can't wait to try...some of the other items on the menu. I would recommend this restaurant in a heartbeat.

Ordered a take away from this restaurant, as sit in was not available due to Covid. Our order was a hot and sour soup, plus a family dinner for one (A) beef with broccoli, sweet and sour chicken balls, chicken fried rice. A family...dinner for one (B) general Tao chicken, beef with broccoli, chicken fried rice. The food was well cooked and tasted good. I'm fussy about meat from restaurants, but the chicken and beef were cooked to perfection. The vegetables were also just right not soggy or too hard. The only criticism was that the soup was not warm temperature wise (but was nice and relatively spicy). Portion size was big enough for us to eat the rest the following day. Buying this special or offerl value for money wise it cannot be beaten. For two of us it was Canadian Dollars for dinners. Being from Scotland (or anywhere in the UK or EU actually) and seeing how much (high) certain M ega-chains sell their fast food for over in Canada, this meal was exceptionally good value for money. I'll definitely return to this place whilst I'm over here and try some different options.
