L'orecchietta Guagnano

What a little gem if a place this is. The service was a family affair with the owner, his wife and parents all helping to bring dish after dish of honest and authentic food from the region. Hand made pasta, cheeses, salads and breads gave us a true taste of puglia. Mino helped us sample a range of local wines and explained the history and blends of grapes typically used. The value was incredible and I can't recommend it highly enough. It's a bit off the beaten track and opening hours are unusual but the experience and quality of food, wine and service are well worth the effort.

Our family of 5 arrived about an hour before L'Orecchietta was about to close but the owner, Mino, and his wife Linda warmly seated us in their restaurant and proceeded to give us the Italian meal of a lifetime! Mino and Linda not only prepared exquisite, fresh, authentic Apulian food, but they also paired specific wines to match each course. We also learned about the various ingredients, techniques and customs of the area as we enjoyed our meal. We were so full after the multitude of Aperitivo and Antipasti that we couldn't make it past the Primi course! Our visit to L'Orecchietta provided our family with a truly unique and authentic Italian experience we were seeking and we will never forget it! It is worth the 25 minute drive from Lecce just to visit their restaurant. We can't recommend it highly enough!

We stayed here on the way to lecce with our friend antonio who knew the owners, linda and mino. we were treated at the most fantastic meals/food we ever had. we were treated as a family, so we try different wee pairings as well as small samples of their food. linda and minos hospitable made our time a truly unforgettable experience and we told our friends everything. although the city is small, this restaurant is a great destination for a meal. it was worth our time to experience such a true jewel.

We just got back from our Southern Italy 2 week vacation. It was all great but you will not eat fresher and tastier food than in this place and you will not meet friendlier nicer people, who do everything from their heart in the whole wide world!
