Every single piece of cake and cake looks at the man from Berlin with a look. “I just can’t decide,” says the 56-year-old laughing and finally ordering a traditional piece of Saxon eggnail with an opulent cream tongue. More or less by chance, together with his wife, on this sunny day, he had beaten from Meissen to Großenhain. And apart from the fact that the city has “something to offer,” he envy the big sharks around this chic, modern café. “If you go somewhere to the heart of Berlin, it doesn’t look different,” says Alfred Priertzschnack and you can taste the egg corner. A praise for what the new owners of the former Café Pietzsch should be very pleased. Not always easy was the start for Kathrin Biedermann and Martin Wilkinson when they started rebuilding the house on the women's market just two years ago. Monumental regulations were to be complied with as well as fulfilling their own claim to create something special. After all: Kathrin Biedermann, who continues the family business Wolfgang Boelzig in Ebersbach and also runs three other branches, wanted to get to the big hains, which for decades belongs to them as a contributor. A delicious selection of 12 different cakes every day since August 2014, seven creamy calorie bombs and at least 20 different cakes. Opulente breakfast plates are cured as well as freshly prepared coffee, cocktails and mixed drinks. However, the one or other speciality, which is still on the elaborately designed card, will now disappear. While the cappuccino, which has been offered for a short time, develops into the favourite of the visitors with a toffee taste, they could not start anything with the geeisten form. “After a year we now know what our guests like and what not. And of course we want to adjust to this”, says Kathrin Biedermann. These are also the cocktails – although in every prestigious place worldwide, they are now very well-designed in English – to put the beverage card in German terms in future. A map that will soon be crucial for all those visitors when they want to celebrate on the top floor. Soon, according to Kathrin Biedermann, this will also be possible. Over the past few months, life mate Martin Wilkinson has set everything to enable the event room to be put into operation again. Within the next two months, the one-hundred-square-square-square-square-square-square-square-square-square-square is supposed to receive a new floor and – to meet the conservation of monuments – appropriate windows. There is also a bar and a counter for food and drinks as well as a modern fridge counter. “We wanted to be ready in summer. But it was the same as the café itself. Since the house is protected by monument, there was still much to be observed and the permits for the refurbishment did not come as quickly as hoped for,” explains Kathrin Biedermann. In the meantime, however, they are all available and one can continue the expansion of the light-flooded hall. There are numerous reservations for juveniles and other events next year. In this respect, Biedermann said that the work was completed at the latest in February. Source: Sächsische Zeitung issue Großenhain
