Bidra med feedbackFirst of all, I often stay on huts in the Alps, but I have never experienced anything here. We waited in vain for about 15min to do the check-in: The lady in the kitchen obviously saw us but did not come. Later before dinner the landlord came to our table and told us in a very angry mood to move to the table next to us or otherwise we would not get anything to eat! We just didn't find out our seats were set exactly for this table. It got worse: we didn't get breakfast in the morning. The reason was that we didn't ask in the evening when we had breakfast. There was no sign with an hour to breakfast or the demand for this hour, and no one from the staff asked us. Useful they ask the guests at check-in to ask in the evening, but we simply did not have a regular check-in, so we were not told about this special house rule! I had to beg and discuss about 10 min to get a piece of bread for each of us!! And I begged again to get Marmelade and a knife. We were not allowed to eat in the dining room, we had to go to our chamber. The washroom was permanently closed, there was no information about it and we didn't dare to ask why the atmosphere was really bad and we had to stay until the next day...
We wanted to stay for the night, but because of bad weather we went a day earlier and wanted to have just a lunch there. I have to admit honestly that we don't like welcome. We were told that we should go as a storm appeared. That's okay to say and we're happy that they made us aware of it, but the way it was said just felt weird. We are somehow disappointed, because we were really looking for a stay at night, but not welcome. I hope this is a demand for improvements!
In the afternoon we took the train to the Jungfraujoch. Only partially full, due to the lack of Asian visitors. A 1-hour walk on a well-marked molten snow path leads us the Mönchsjoch Hütte, slow walk through the high altitude. We enjoyed a design beer before dinner, a very tasty meal including salad and dessert. The cottage was only half full COVID-19, but sleep was difficult because we are not used in height. We stood at the time for sunrise, in front of a delicious birch vegetables. We can recommend the Mönchsjoch Hütte not only as a beautiful way to expand your altitude experience, but also for your reception and meal!
Walked here after taking the train to Jungfraujoch. A beautiful walk in a true alpine environment, and the reward is tasty, hearty food and beer. Service is efficient rather than friendly so you need to figure out the system before ordering (find a seat, read the menu, order at the counter, wait for drinks and return to your table while they prepare the food).
