Captain Jay's Fish Chicken

The fried shrimp and perch at this restaurant were delicious. The service was excellent and the portions were generous.

As soon as I walked into the restaurant, a young lady came to the counter. When I asked her a question about the menu, she just pointed to it and said it was up there. As I turned back to look at her, I saw that she had her finger in her nose, picking at her nose ring. I couldn't believe what I was seeing - it was so unexpected and off-putting. It was a disappointing experience.

The girl working at the counter had a very bad attitude. She charged me for BBQ sauce, which no one else ever does, but there was a sign explaining the charge. However, she also charged me for hot sauce, which she did not charge anyone else for. When I asked for hot sauce because I thought it was supposed to be free, she became defensive. The food was also overcooked and the final bill was higher than usual for the same items. I will not be returning to this restaurant.

Texture was perfect! Wings just how i like em. Crispy wuthout being over breaded that it cuts the roof of your mouth.. Had hot and lemon pepper. Gonna have the dark meat next time, it all looked so good. Friendly staff too!

Everytime I go to my home town Grand Rapids I gotta make a stop to this spot on Lafeyette and Franklin (now named Martin Luther King Dr). I'd say the fried chicken here is better than KFC NO CAP!! Also you can get food on EBT and just have to pay a fry fee(like $1 per ordered item like an 8 piece chicken is $1 added on 5 piece shrimp extra $1) but you definitely get ALOT of foodfor the price. It's also delicious and the workers here are cool AF. Never had a bad employee instance. They're also prettythorough about double checking your order. Highly recommend this place if you're in the area
