At The Old Goat, where art and taste collide, Eclectic touches fill the space with flair. Drum shades above, where shadows softly glide, And goats adorn the walls with crafted care. The open kitchen's warmth invites the eye, A glimpse of chefs at work in vibrant light. The server, kind, though often passed us by, With tables spread from patio to night. The lobster bisque, a comfort rich and deep, With croutons crisp, each bite a savory treat. The grilled cheese pleased, a dish we'd surely keep, But pizza fell to standards most would meet. A well-done burger where medium was sought, Yet piano tunes with gentle peace were brought.
It was a beautiful afternoon and we found the perfect place to have lunch on the patio. The menu had a nice selection of sandwiches, salads, entrees and pizzas. Gluten free, vegetarian and vegan options were marked. They had a good selection of beers on tap from the local breweries. We spit an order of the deviled eggs of the day (BLT) which were delish and creamy. My husband had the soup and sandwich combo: lobster bisque and Reuben with fries. My brother had the chicken and bacon on a pretzel roll. I had sautéed mushrooms, peppers and onions and grilled Gouda on gluten- free bread at chips. Wonderful. The only quibble is the sandwich should have been sliced. The wait staff was attentive and friendly. The patio also appears to be dog friendly, which seams to be rarer in GR as compared to VB. I would definitely go back
Finally stopped in for dinner with some friends! We sat at a high top in the bar area and had a great view of the live pianist playing throughout our meal. We all loved his music since they were old game theme songs and stuff similar. One of the bartenders took care of us and was friendly. The happy hour menu had some quality options on it but we just opted for the drinks and skipped the appetizers. For my dinner, I had the Nashville Hot Chicken Sandwich with fries. I was starving and ate the whole thing but it's definitely on the larger portion size. The fries were crispy and thin, my favorite. The chicken had the perfect amount of kick for me when I don't love super spicy stuff. The bun was rather overpowering and took over the sandwich but that would be my only complaint. For dessert, I had the cherry crème brûlée. It was pretty good but the actual creme was pretty runny/watery, which didn't seem normal. Overall, pretty cool spot in such a cool building. The food was above average and we loved the live music. We will be back!
I love this place! My friend took me to this place for dinner because her friend was playing in a jazz trio that was performing there in the evening. It was an evening of good food, good music, and fun and chill vibe. This place is popular; when we arrived on a Friday night at around 6:30, we had to be placed on a waitlist (but the wait was not very long). I got the Jambalaya which had sausage, shrimp, crab legs, jalapeños, charred sweet corn, veggies like tomatoes and onions, and saffron rice in a hot cast-iron pot. It came out hot. The dish carried some nice variety of taste to it! To be honest, I wish the sauce and the tomatoes were a little more juicy and flavorful, but it was still good. It had a good kick of spice to it. The crab legs were a little hard to get into because the shell was on the softer side. But once you figure out how to really angle the shell cracker on the legs, it kind of works. The waitress was excellent, warm and attentive. I loved the decor of the place with pictures and sculptures of goats; it was so unique. This place is quite large! They have two floors of seating. If you are able to come in when they have live performances, it really creates a nice and fun mood to hang out with friends and family. There is a parking lot behind the restaurant.
