Bidra med feedbackWe did not know what to expect on the basis of the overall ratings, but we had a nice experience, delicious eating and excellent server while we enjoy each other.
In any case the best we had in grand lake! they had a prefixe menu for $65 that included a palette cleaner, brot and two courses. everything we do.
A very nice side of the mountain restaurant, very large, many seating inside and outside, with a private gift shop, easy to order, personal are very.
I made a reservation for 4 of us on a Thursday evening during their last week open before closing for winter. We started with the Mac cheese and added bacon and chives. $2 extra for bacon and chives is honestly ludicrous, but we were hungry after a day of hiking and wanted all the flavor. We had a lovely server, Alex, who took great care of us and even comped some bread for our table because our drinks took too long to arrive. Classy! Alex was wonderful and attentive. I ordered the mezcalito; wonderful flavor. My husband ordered an Aviation (not on the menu, but they had the ingredients for it, so made it for him). The other 2 in our party got Prosecco and a beer. 2 people got the elk chops and said they were a bit underdone. I got the scallops and they were really great. Friend got the butternut squash soup and the crabcake and loved both. They need to work something out with their tables next to the window. They are WAY too close together. The man behind me couldn't even get out because our chairs were smack up against each other. Not sure why they nailed them to the wall, as you can't even move them. My husband walked away with the chocolate cake and, while it was good, it was a bit dry. Overall, this is a great choice if you're in Grand Lake! You won't be disappointed. The flavors of the food are honestly outstanding and the overall ambiance is lovely! We hung out by the fire after leaving and met some new friends with a golden retriever. Great visit to Huntington Tavern!
The service and view from the Huntington House Tavern are hard to beat in Grand Lake. One of us enjoyed our meal (Crispy Sous Vide Half Chicken) but the other found the Tomato Braised Buffalo Short Ribs to taste like basic stewed beef and nothing special compared to what it was which was a little disappointing. We enjoyed our experience though and really enjoyed the Chocolate Cake we took home for dessert.
