Bidra med feedbackPopped into Kin with my other half for a bistro lunch to celebrate my birthday. I had the salmon with edememe beans and wasabi: a total winner. He had the fish (Gurnard) and chips and was delighted with his meal. The wine glass had no line and was slightly on the skimpy side but the Catalina sauvignon was well chilled and went down extremely well with my fish. The service could not be faulted: speedy, professional and polite. We will certainly return on our next trip to town. Highly recommended oh and did I mention the price was very reasonable? $28 for the samon meal was a steal. Ambience (all white and marble) slightly clinical softened by lovely fresh flowers. All in all an absolute treat.
Nestled on the ground floor of Ballantynes department store is the spacious and light Kin. There's a full menu with breakfast/lunch items and it functions as a quick stop kind of place too, serving delicious coffee and cabinet food. Service was really good, the kitchen staff were nice too and you can see them prepare various dishes too, as part of their workspace is exposed to the dining area. When you're seated, you don't feel like you're in a department store anymore which is nice. Well worth checking out!
Ordered the pancake and the braised lamb. The pancake was very good, large, thick but fluffy and light. For the price paid I would have liked 2 pancakes. Husband thought the braised lamb was terrible perhaps trying a bit too hard. Lovely space, food a bit hit and miss. Service was also slow, and it wasn't that busy. Service: Dine in Meal type: Lunch
It took half an hour for a salad and omelette to come out on a quiet Wednesday afternoon. Service was average in that they are polite and friendly but no one comes to check that you’re okay waiting ages for the food to arrive. Fine atmosphere. Nice jazz playing in the background
Fantastic coffee. Didn't have any food but will be back to try!
