Bidra med feedbackLittle Bar was the only place open. I guess the other places are only open on Sunday? Had a great time, good food. Missed the entertainment, only on weekends.
Visited Marco Island in July, ate dinner at Little Bar and had great grouper and my wife got a fair price on the Florida lobster. They were wonderful, I only talked her out of 1 bite, Stopped at Stan's for a drink in the parking lot.
The Little Bar is a fun place, although best left to locals during the frenzy of Spammy Jammy, staged to ward off hurricanes. Try it for lunch or a drink, before committing to dinner. Better seafood can be had elsewhere on the island and in Goodland, most notably at Stan's Idle Hour Cafe, home of the Buzzard Lope featuring crowning of the Buzzard Queen, typically a weekend or so before Super Bowl.
We stopped by for the Spammy Jammy (in a separate room at this restaurant, which was just great), but then we made the mistake of deciding to grab a bite to eat. Two for dinner, we were asked? Do you have reservations? No, we said. We were shown to a fly-ridden screened porch out back that was hotter than blazes (despite there being an empty air-conditioned dining room that apparently was for reservations folks). A ceiling fan above us wasn 't working and was dripping water. A waitress hauled up a huge board with a bunch of entrees $19.99 and up, even pricier than at some better places in Naples or over on South Beach in Miami Beach. Do you have grouper sandwiches, we asked? No, not for dinner, we were told. About two minutes later, another waitress was overheard telling another table about grouper sandwiches and hamburgers. When we asked what 's up with that, our prune-mouthed waitress informed us that was the ;children 's verbal menu. ; Sure enough, a kid about 12 was at that table. We should have walked out then, but didn 't. Our grouper dinners (two small pre-fab slabs) served with dabs of rice, limp salads and a basket of two rolls were a joke. We won 't be going back. Here 's a tip: When in Goodland, go to Stan 's Idle Hour Cafe for a decent meal. Or try Pelican Bend on the Isle of Capri for fabulous grouper in sandwiches or dinners, served inside or outdoors in a chickee hut. Or go to the more expensive but well worth it Rod Gun Club for either grouper or frog legs. As for it’s ;children 's verbal menu, ; the Little Bar can take it and stick it. We left a 15 percent tip on a $57 tab and regret that, too, the more we think about it.
