Pizzeria La Lanterna - GOLASECCA

Almost everytime I am back to my little town, I try not to miss the chance to taste a proper pizza. This place is very convenient, the pizzas are tasty and not too pricey, and the service is excellent. If you find yourself wandering around Golasecca, and you fancy having a pizza, you don't need to look farther.

It is difficult to write a review on a restaurant where you are local, however, after several years of custom, I owe this to the owners and any foreigners looking for an English review. Golasecca is off the beaten track. Most people will flock to Sesto Calende and other tourist towns on the lake, however, they should think about a trip to Golasecca and enjoy a pizza here. I used to be a pizza snob and think that only wood fired ovens can produce a good pizza; this is not true. Recent comparisions with former favourite places (with wood stoves) have proven that the Lanterna pizzas are getting better.The pizzas are sensibly priced, nicely varied with classics and some unusual variations. There are also some other dishes, pasta and seafood but I stick with what I have always enjoyed. The service is good, staff friendly and the prices are right. What more could one ask for? Be warned, streets are narrow and parking can be a challenge. Finally personal favourite: Protezione Civile but without garlic!
