Bidra med feedbackIf you value a well composed and unhurried dish, the pear tarte tatin at Ramblr is for you. It is almost impossible to get a truly caramelized fruit dessert anywhere outside Paris, but the chef at Ramblr has both the skill and patience to get the job done in style. Our tarte arrived, despite our doubts, with the proper texture and form. It also surprised us with an unusual crust...turns out it is a puff pastry. This may even be a better choice than the traditional as it was light and crispy. We did enjoy our other dishes here but were delighted that our last one was so surprisingly well executed.
Young, enthusiastic crew serves treats. Great to follow the action in the kitchen located in the front of. Do visit.
I dropped in here with a friend for coffee and dessert. There were only two desserts on offer but we were happy with those and had one each - both of which turned out to be fabulous. The kitchen forms part of the restaurant and so the inside was incredibly hot and the smell just a bit too pungent for me. The tables outside though were fine though and the waiter very kindly offered to put the heaters on for us if we would like them. The coffee was great too so a very happy first time visit.
After reading a few online reviews, we decided to give this place a go. It's a difficult place to get a restaurant to work (its an old pizza restaurant) and a location that is dying retail and slowly getting more weeknight vibes happening. They have done a great fit out and were welcoming on our entry. We got a great table outside and ordered the Chef's menu for $66 per head. I'm so glad we did! Four courses (technically) but that consisted of multiple plates per course that would probably be described as 'mediterranean' in origin. Seriously, each plate was amazing. From the morton bay bug entree to the roast chicken main and panacotta desert (and I know I'm missing plates in-between) each bite was a delight. I can understand why the reviews are raving about this place. And it was pretty packed when we left. Plus the service was prompt, attentive and very friendly. Many times when you are seated outside on the footpath you can get forgotten, but not here. And overall experience on Chapel street that I hope to bring many friends back to enjoy. Well done and thanks for brining food back to this end of chapel street
We found this by accident on a trip late last year on their opening night and then I went again in February. The food is amazing and the staff area great to talk to and explain each dish plus excellent choices in wines to match the dishes.Over the 2 visits, we tried almost everything on the menu and couldn't fault a single dish. This is my new favourite restaurant in Melbourne.
