Bidra med feedbackFood is AMAZING!! Best curry in the west end, no doubt. The naans were so good they brought extra to the table for us. Service was quick, staff were lovely, whole experience was fab. Only thing that has stopped me returning is how uncomfortable the chairs are, felt that the bars at the side were digging into my thighs the whole way through. There was no alternative to these chairs which was a shame. Change a few of the chairs and I’ll be there repeatedly!
We as a couple decided to venture into the West End rather than the city centre. We got off the tube at Hillhead on a rainy Friday evening. Found this lovely little. Well what looked like Little indian restaurant. Opted for the set menu and thoroughly enjoyed it all. My wife had haggis pakora, and I had Mumbai Bhel as starters. Delicious. As mains I hand south indian garlic chilli lamb and my wife had Lamb karahi we shared a nan bread and rice. Both curries were spicy. But we enjoy that. Pint of Kingfisher and a glass of Pinot to wash it all down. Service impeccable. It 's a very long time since I 've heard Can we take your coats? That was a great start. A special mention to our waitress Rain and Cloud. She was great and good luck when you start in the NHS.
My partner and I visited this restaurant on Friday, October 6, 2023, before attending a gig at Oran Mor. We were immediately drawn in by the enticing smell coming from outside. The decor was basic yet funky, and we were greeted with a friendly and warm welcome. The service was excellent. Choosing from the extensive menu was a challenge, but I ultimately decided on the mince and tatties curry, which was absolutely delicious. My partner opted for the lamb railway curry, which he described as incredibly tasty and made with tender lamb. We also enjoyed a garlic coriander nan, flavorful popadoms, and spiced onions. In addition, we had 2 mango lime ciders and 2 pints of kingfisher, bringing our total bill to just over £55. If we find ourselves in the West End of Glasgow again, we will definitely return to this restaurant. The title of the restaurant refers to the tradition of ringing a bell on the way out if you thought the meal was good.
We were heading for a night out in Great Western Road, and wandered down Byres Road. Found Banta Wala Indian restaurant, and thought we’d try it out. So glad we did! Himself had chicken pakora (lovely pieces of chicken, very lightly fried – best we’ve tasted) and I had an Indian street food, Chat (can’t remember which) which is crunchy wheat crisps with veg and spices. Very tasty, but felt a bit like eating rice crispies! Himself had Chicken Dopiaza, and I had Chicken garlic chilli. The latter was lovely and spicy, but even better with some yogurt to cool it down a wee bit. The rice and naan bread were also very tasty. Definitely be coming back; this didn’t break the bank, though the portions were generous and quite hard to finish.
Definitely one of my favourite restaurants in Glasgow. I love the food, the decor, and the service.
