Bidra med feedbackAmazing beers; meads, ciders, ales, saison, stouts, porters, IPA's. Food (not run by them) is awful. The used to have Italian and now it's dive bar food. Meat on nachos was so super salty and looked made by my kiddo. Location not great either.
What a great find! We were in the area doing some brewery hopping and were told about this place being opened recently and we are so glad that we came here. I must say, the brewery is located in a plaza that has seen better days... but once inside you quickly forget about that. We sat at the bar and Mary, one of the owners was working and was the one to serve us. Talk about a people person. Perfect personality for the hospitality industry. She talked about the brewery itself from the opening process with COVID to how she creates the different beers to the kitchen who has to Danny from none other than Danny's All American heading up the food. If you don't know about Danny's All American then you need to make that place one of your next stops, they are great and have had a visit from the Food Network on Diners, Drive Ins and Dives. Mary has a great way of listening to her customers and taking their wants or favorite flavors and creating a version for Alafia. Talk about great customer service. As an example, she had been told that one of her customers was frustrated that they couldn't get a Chia Tea cider they loved from another brewery so she decided to make for herself. That was listed on the menu however it was such a success that they sold out already. Good for them!!! If they were located closer to me, I think we would be in trouble with this one for sure. The inside is open and long, kinda like a warehouse meets the beach feeling. The bar area is a lot of wood that is covered in dollar bills and the walls have pieces art available for purchase by different local artists.
Showed up here on a Sunday with a group of 5. They do not have a kitchen. We were handed a Sunday Brunch menu for $16.99. Waitress said they have a food truck that shows up later in the day. Craft beers only. A few locals sitting at the bar. Maybe they 'll get better with time.
Went to Alafia brewing company on a Tuesday and it was karaoke night. Although country music is not my thing, it was a good time. And they have something going on every night, from trivia and open mic to live music which is Friday through Sunday. And Wednesday is Adults only. I will leave that one to your imagination. The place has a lot of room. A very long bar, plenty of tables and high tops and a stage. There is also a lot of local art. I forgot to mention that on the weekends they have live performances like fire dancing. Got to meet Dan and Hula, two humans who know how to have a good time. And Hula can sing! She was pouring beer and singing karaoke. OMG! They had about 26 or so options on tap, enough to please anyone's palette. Half the beers were brewed in house with the rest being guest taps. They mentioned that they will be getting food soon, which would add value to the experience. I had so much fun here that I stayed until last call. Met many of the regulars which were all very friendly. It was really a great beer drinking atmosphere. I have got to return soon. The BEERS: Cherry Mead 14.3% ABV... this was decent. Definitely a sneaky brew. Drinkable for sure. Cherry Cider 5% ABV... good for a cider Tangerine IPA 4.7% ABV American IPA with hints of tangerine... it tastes way stronger than 4.7% East Bay English Bitter 4.5%... this was made by someone who understands the complexity of an English bitter. The bitter was subtle and it drank more like a great flavored tea. Belgian Double Chocolate 5.6%... I liked this one, but it wasn't my favorite. Felt like it needed something more than just the chocolate. Guava Gose 3.9% ABV... THIS is a SUPER STAR. if you are a fan if gose, you have to try this one. Rye IPA 6.9% ABV... can't believe how much I liked this one. It wasn't what I expected, but it was much appreciated. Alafia Brewing Company, great people, good times, better beer. If you are in the Tampa area it is definitely worth a visit. And if you pull up, don't let the outside dissuade you from going in... you will regret it.
Stopped by here after fishing one time. This brewery is newly opened in a rather run down strip mall. Don't let the outward appearances and random homeless people walking around steer you away. Inside is some of the friendliest people and great tasting beers you can venture to in the Bay area. Overall super friendly crew and locals. Would recommend.
